Kicking off Week 14 of the NFL season is the Detroit Lions hosting the Green Bay Packers. Both teams played on Thanksgiving and have had a full week between games.Packers vs Lions Prediction, Picks & Best Bet For TNF | 12/05/24

The hosts are 9-3 against the spread, while the visitors are 6-6. The Lions are 3.5-point favorites with the sportsbooks.

The Lions are 11-1, and while they’ve continued to win, the injuries are starting to pile up.
Oddly enough, it’s really only on defense.
Heading into this game, two defensive tackles, five defensive ends, and four linebackers are hurt.
This is leaving the Lions with few options in the front seven to stop the run and rush the passer.
This week, they take on a Packers offense that ranks third in yards, averaging 382.9 per game.
On Thanksgiving, Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams torched the Lions’ defense. He threw for 256 yards and three touchdowns. Before this game, no quarterback had more than one passing score against the Lions.
I think the Lions will hold on to win at home, though. They’re second in average yards per game at 395.2.
That said, given their injuries, I’ll take the Packers against the spread, especially getting the hook.
Look for this to come down to a key turnover by Packers quarterback Jordan Love. He’s tied for third in the league with 11 interceptions.
Best Bet: Packers +3.5 (-115) at BetMGM Sportsbook
With both teams middle of the pack defensively, both possessing surging offenses and the Lions injuries, I could see this being a high-scoring affair.
The total of 51 could even be exceeded with how well these offenses produce.
Look for the Lions to win at home, narrowly, 30-27.
Wagering on the game’s final outcome, whether it’s moneyline, point spread, or total, is always the go-to way to wager on sports. However, in some games, including a game such as this one where it could be close, betting only on player props is another engaging way to stay in on the action without needing to pick a side.
My favorite player props are First TD scorer and Anytime TD scorer props at BetMGM. For me, it’s hard to deny either of the Lions running backs, David Montgomery or Jahmyr Gibbs, to score. They both have double-digit rushing touchdowns, and the Packers have allowed running backs to score at least once in three of the last four games.
