There was a lot riding on Pete Weber's final roll at last night's Professional Bowlers Association's U.S. Open. The 49-year-old Weber needed no less than a strike to defeat Mike Fagan to become the first man to win the tournament five times, and to become the oldest man to win the event. But this was about more than just winning and losing; Weber apparently had enough of all that shit-talk about bowling being a young man's game. And his reaction toward the crowd in the video above—"Who do you think you are? I am!"—was only the beginning. This is how the Star-Ledger covered the scene after the cameras stopped rolling:Deadspin | Taunting In Professional Bowling Is The Best Taunting
Putting two thumbs in the air, he pointed to the name across his back while showing all in attendance that he would win no other way but his own.Deadspin | Taunting In Professional Bowling Is The Best Taunting
"I love the people that think I'm washed up," Weber said to reporters. "I've bowled better this year than I probably have in the other 32 years of my life on tour. I have something to prove that these young kids are not taking over.
"Everybody keeps asking me, 'When are you going to retire, grandpa? Do you need a cane?' I'm like, 'you know what? ... ' "
He finished the sentence by holding up the middle finger on each hand, and smiled.
Pete Weber, bomaye!
